In order to solve problems and get to the best insight, sometimes a good method is to turn the case upside-down, flip things around, and get the information straight again.
After over 25 hours of gameplay within the past week or two, I finally finished the game “Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney”. I’m a big fan of any Ace Attorney game, and I can confidently say that the trials within this game were more fun than the more recent Ace Attorney games.
For those who are not familiar with the Ace Attorney series, the games involve utilizing clues and evidence that one finds while investigating in order to find contradictions within witnesses’ testimonies and find the truth behind different cases. Although this game requires some critical thinking, I love how this game makes analyzing information and finding contradictions between facts/testimonies fun and rewarding.
As I learned while playing these games, a witness’s interpretation of information can lead to different stories, inferences, and conclusions. In order to settle the discrepancies, one has to find what is inconsistent within the statements and evidence in order to ultimately find the truth. The more contradictions found and resolved, the closer one gets to the full story and straight, accurate information.
Furthermore, when faced with what seems like an impossible solution, sometimes it’s best to flip one’s way of thinking and think outside the box. The game holds true to my thoughts that with every piece of information/fact/logic, a certain amount of credibility should be taken into consideration. Logic can be twisted and manipulated resulting in different and crazy conclusions. Even if some reasoning seems “logical”, there can always be more than meets the eye, which is what one has to look into when playing these games.
I like to remind myself through games like this to be careful when piecing data or information together in order to draw insights or conclusions. However, I’m always excited in these games when I’m being careful of how information can lead to particular conclusions and finding contradictions within information in order to find out the truth behind data/information. Especially that moment when I realize what’s wrong and exposing that inconsistency that will lead me one step closer to the truth. know something is wrong and exposing that inconsistency will get you one step closer to what’s really going on.
